If we are in the business of removing symbols of racism and bigotry I say we continue with the removal of Democrat Robert C. Byrd's 10-foot bronze statue that currently resides in the West Virginia Capitol Rotunda.
Byrd was a racist and former Exalted Cyclops of the Ku Klux Klan, yet for some reason his statue remains. Where are the impassioned pleas from the House floor to remove the racist Democrat from the premise, where are the petitions, where are the social media movements?
Well, start the movement now. If we are systematically eliminating all symbols of racism in America from the grounds of state capitols than I say we add Senator Robert Byrd's statue to the list.
